This book is an in-depth guide to a myriad of practices, beliefs, and customs of the Jewish culture and religion. It covers topics areas that range from prayer to Shabbat services to ancient texts to Jewish festivals. Almost anything anyone would need to know about the Jewish religion is written about in this book. Particularly interesting is chapter six which is entitled "The Rabbis Said: The Talmud and Other Rabbinical Writings." This chapter covers many topics related to Rabbinic Judaism in the time in which it was written. It also includes several sections which deal with modern scholarship of Rabbinic writings. One can gain a great deal of knowledge from researching in this book. In fact, it is probably one of the best published sources that this contributor has found for explaining the many intricacies of Jewish life.
