Cohen JM 1992Shaye J.D. Cohen, "Judaism to the Mishnah" in Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism: A Parallel History of Their Origins and Early Development (Hershel Shanks ed., Washington D.C.: Biblical Archaeology Society, 1992) 195-224. (see also ShanksCJR1992).
This articles covers information from the end of the third Jewish Revolt to the publication of the Mishnah, which is one of the sacred text of Judaism. Cohen states at the beginning that information given in the article is one-sided towards rabbinic resources. He discusses the de-judaization of Judea and Jerusalem and its effect on theology and practice. He continues in talking about the Jews, their positions as well as the barriers between them and the rabbis of Israel. About halfway through Cohen begins his discussion on the Mishnah and how it came together and its importance.
