This book is an excellent source of information on Rabbinic Judaism? and its intellectual history. Boccaccini discusses that Rabbinic Judaism? was a reform movement during the first century after the destruction of the temple. It concentrates on the writings of Ezekiel and Daniel and events such as the Babylonian Exile as well as the Maccabean Revolt. Boccaccini starts out giving background information on Rabbinic Judaism?. Discussing its origins and roots, Boccaccini points to myths as well as models of this radical reform to explain it intellectual history. The first chapter explains the rise of Zadokite Judaism and its struggle with "priestly supremacy" and the Jews return from the Babylonian Exile. Chaper Two discusses the early, priestly, and lay opponents of Zadokite Judaism. The friendly relationship between Zadokite and Sapiential Judaism is talked about in Chapter Three. The last chapter of Boccaccini's book discusses the end of Zadokite Judaism and the rise of Enochic Judaism as well as the Danielic Revolution. All in all Boccaccini gives us the details and history of development of modern Judaism.
